The Store has sold bait since the 1930's!

We sold our home in Saginaw, MN and purchased the bait shop on June 4th, 1981.  Our children are Michelle, 14, Johnny, 13, and Troy, 15. We're quite the crew!


In the early years we would open during the night for bait customers. Between the fishermen and our teenagers, we didn't get much sleep.  The older gentlemen thought it was their job to have us open by 3:00am and so the store was always busy with activity.  Not to mention the 6:00am coffee group that has showed up every day for 30 years!  Moose, deer, and fish licenses were sold as well as archery (added in 1988).  Quite a group of favorites!

We have the best customers!  We now serve the 3rd and even 4th generations of our original customers.  Our employees are hand picked, talented and good natured.  We never just hire them, they somehow become family. 


In 1992, we actually sold the store only to purchase it back in February 17, 1995. At that time our son John and I became partners.  It was a real challenge to get it up and running again- failure was not an option!  Many customers would drop in and stay to help for hours.


In 1996, John purchased a used meat grinder and did a couple deer for people just to pay for the equipment. He really had no intention on starting a full blown butcher shop...but it happened!
